Postpartum Mental Health
Low mood in the first two weeks is common and usually settles. What needs attention is persistent sadness beyond two weeks, inability to sleep even when the baby sleeps, loss of interest in the baby, overwhelming anxiety or any thought of self-harm. Our staff are briefed to notice these, to raise them gently with the family rather than dismiss them as normal tiredness, and to escalate for professional help.
