ICU & Critical Care at Home in Mumbai

ICU at home moves the equipment, the monitoring and the trained staff of an intensive care unit into a familiar bedroom. For long-term ventilator patients and post-ICU step-down cases it lowers infection risk, lowers cost and lets the family be present.

ICU setup at home with ventilator and vital signs monitor

CareGlobal sets up critical care at home across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane - typically within 8 hours of assessment for standard setups.

What's Included in ICU-at-Home

  • ICU bed, air mattress, multi-para monitor and suction apparatus
  • Ventilator or BiPAP with oxygen concentrator or cylinder backup
  • Infusion and syringe pumps for controlled drug delivery
  • ICU-trained nurses in rotating 12-hour shifts
  • Intensivist supervision and daily clinical review
  • Written emergency escalation plan and ambulance tie-up

Ventilator & BiPAP Support

Ventilated patients need more than a machine. Our ICU nurses manage circuit changes, humidification, cuff pressure, suctioning schedules and alarm response, and they know the difference between a nuisance alarm and a deteriorating patient. Settings are changed only on the supervising intensivist's instruction, and every change is documented on the bedside chart.

Patient Monitoring

  • Continuous ECG, SpO2, NIBP and respiratory rate monitoring
  • Hourly critical care charting with intake-output balance
  • Blood sugar, ABG sampling and lab coordination at home
  • Sedation and pain scoring where applicable
  • Ventilator-associated pneumonia prevention bundle

Emergency Escalation Protocol

Before the patient comes home we identify the receiving hospital, the ambulance provider and the exact triggers for transfer. The escalation ladder - nurse to care manager to intensivist to ambulance - is printed and kept at the bedside, and the family is briefed on it. Power backup and oxygen backup are confirmed at setup, because in Mumbai's monsoon a power cut is a clinical risk, not an inconvenience.

Local Coverage & Context

We have run home ICU setups across Mumbai's western and central suburbs, in Navi Mumbai nodes like Vashi, Nerul and Kharghar, and along Ghodbunder Road in Thane. Two things decide feasibility: whether the equipment can physically reach the room, and whether power backup is reliable. We check both during assessment, and in older buildings with narrow lifts we plan the ICU bed route in advance rather than discovering the problem on delivery day.

Specialised services

Ventilator Support at Home

Long-term ventilated patients can be cared for at home safely - but only with ICU-trained staff, a documented escalation plan and reliable power and oxygen backup. Equipment alone is not care.

Explore

Oxygen Support at Home

Home oxygen therapy keeps patients with chronic lung disease, post-COVID fibrosis and heart failure out of hospital - provided the flow rate is right, saturation is monitored and the equipment is maintained.

Explore

BiPAP Support at Home

BiPAP is often what keeps a patient with type-2 respiratory failure or severe sleep apnoea out of an ICU bed. The machine is simple; getting the mask fit, pressures and compliance right is what actually decides the outcome.

Tracheostomy Care at Home

A tracheostomy at home is manageable, but it is unforgiving of poor technique: a blocked tube is an emergency measured in minutes, not hours. It needs nurses who have done this in an ICU, not general caregivers.

Explore

BiPAP & CPAP Support at Home

Patients on non-invasive ventilation for COPD, sleep apnoea or post-ICU weaning often need someone at home who understands how to fit the mask correctly, adjust settings within prescribed limits and watch for signs of trouble. Our team brings that reassurance directly to your living room.

ICU Trained Nurse at Home

An ICU-trained nurse is what makes critical care at home safe. These nurses have worked in hospital intensive care units and can manage ventilators, tracheostomies, infusion pumps and deteriorating vitals without waiting for instructions.
