Concentrator or Cylinder - which is right?
A concentrator draws oxygen from room air and never needs refilling, which makes it the practical choice for continuous long-term therapy - but it needs mains power. A cylinder needs no power and delivers higher flows, which makes it essential as backup and for travel or power cuts. Most of our long-term patients keep a concentrator as primary supply and one filled cylinder as backup, which we consider the minimum safe arrangement.
