Bedsores, or pressure ulcers, develop quickly when a patient stays in one position too long, and they can worsen fast without proper care. Managing them at home requires more than dressing changes - it needs consistent repositioning, nutrition support and close wound monitoring.

Preventing bedsores before they start
Prevention is far easier than treatment. For patients who are bedridden but do not yet have sores, we focus on skin checks at every position change, keeping skin dry and clean, and using pillows or foam wedges to offload pressure from the heels, hips and lower back.
When a wound needs more than home dressing
Deep or infected wounds (Stage 3 or 4) sometimes need debridement or specialist wound care beyond what can be safely done at home. In these cases we coordinate a visit to a wound care specialist or plastic surgeon, while continuing supportive nursing care at home between appointments.

- Redness that does not fade within 30 minutes of repositioning
- Unusual odour, discharge or warmth around a wound
- Increased pain at a pressure point
- Signs of fever that could indicate wound infection
