Paralysis Rehabilitation at Home

Paralysis care runs on two tracks at once: rehabilitation to recover whatever function is recoverable, and daily care to prevent the complications that immobility causes - pressure sores, contractures, chest infections and urinary problems.

CareGlobal provides both across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, combining physiotherapy with trained attendant or nursing support.

What's Included

  • Passive and active-assisted exercises to preserve joint range
  • Contracture prevention with splinting and positioning schedules
  • Strength and transfer training for partially preserved function
  • Two-hourly turning and pressure sore prevention protocol
  • Bladder and bowel management support
  • Chest physiotherapy to prevent respiratory infection

Who Needs This Care

  • Hemiplegia after stroke or brain injury
  • Paraplegia and quadriplegia after spinal cord injury
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome and other acute neuropathies in recovery
  • Progressive neuromuscular disease needing maintenance therapy

How It Works

  • Assessment of level of injury, preserved function and home layout
  • Combined plan - therapist for rehab, attendant or nurse for daily care
  • Equipment arranged: hospital bed, air mattress, wheelchair, commode
  • Family trained in safe transfers and turning technique
  • Progress reviewed monthly against functional goals

Equipment That Changes Outcomes

The right equipment does more for a paralysed patient than extra therapy hours. An air mattress prevents the sore that would otherwise cost three months. A properly sized wheelchair with pressure cushion allows time out of bed. A hospital bed with side rails and height adjustment protects the carer's back and makes transfers safe. We arrange all of these on rent with same-day delivery so rehabilitation is not delayed waiting for logistics.

Local Coverage & Context

Wheelchair access is genuinely difficult across much of Mumbai - narrow lifts, steps at building entrances, uneven footpaths. During assessment we map what is actually possible from the patient's own front door, which changes the rehab goals we set. In wider Navi Mumbai and Thane complexes, outdoor wheelchair mobility is far more achievable and we build it into the plan early.
