Where aspiration risk exists, the practical rules matter more than any exercise: sit fully upright for meals and for thirty minutes afterwards, small spoonfuls, no talking while eating, thickened fluids if thin liquids cause coughing, and mouth care after every meal to reduce bacterial load. Our therapist trains the family and the attendant in these together, because whoever feeds the patient must know them.
