Post-Surgery Nursing at Home
The first two weeks after surgery decide how well - and how fast - a patient recovers. Wound infection, missed antibiotics, DVT and falls are all preventable with structured nursing, and all far more likely when a family manages recovery alone.

CareGlobal provides post-operative nursing at home across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, working to the surgeon's discharge instructions.
What's Included
- Surgical wound inspection, sterile dressing and suture/staple removal
- IV antibiotics, injections and pain management as prescribed
- Drain and catheter care with output charting
- Early mobilisation, DVT prevention and breathing exercises
- Vitals and fever monitoring with same-day surgeon escalation
- Diet, bowel and hydration management during recovery
Who Needs Post-Surgery Nursing
- Orthopaedic patients after knee, hip or spine surgery
- Cardiac patients after bypass or valve surgery
- Abdominal surgery patients with drains or stomas
- Elderly patients at high risk of post-operative delirium or falls
How It Works
- Share the discharge summary and surgeon's instructions
- Assessment on day of discharge, ideally before the patient reaches home
- Nurse deployed with a dressing schedule and medication chart
- Weekly progress photos of the wound shared with the surgeon
- Step-down to physiotherapy-only support as the patient improves
Warning Signs We Watch For
Our nurses are briefed to escalate immediately on fever above 100.4F, spreading redness or foul discharge from the wound, sudden calf pain or swelling, breathlessness, uncontrolled pain despite medication, or a drop in urine output. Catching any of these on day three instead of day seven is usually the difference between an oral antibiotic and a readmission.
Local Coverage & Context
Most post-surgery cases come to us straight from discharge in Mumbai's large tertiary hospitals, and we try to complete the home assessment while the patient is still on the ward. In Navi Mumbai and Thane, where the drive home can take over an hour in traffic, we schedule the first dressing round for the same evening so no wound goes 24 hours unchecked after discharge.
