IV Infusion at Home

Many patients stay admitted purely because they need a daily IV antibiotic. That is an expensive bed and an unnecessary infection risk when the same infusion can be given safely at home by a trained nurse.

CareGlobal provides doctor-prescribed IV infusion therapy at home across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

What's Included

  • IV cannulation with sterile technique and site documentation
  • IV antibiotics, antifungals and prescribed infusions
  • Hydration and electrolyte correction as prescribed
  • Iron, albumin and blood-product infusion under doctor supervision
  • Infusion pump use where controlled rate is required
  • Reaction monitoring with escalation to the treating doctor

Who Needs IV Infusion at Home

  • Patients discharged on a course of IV antibiotics
  • Dehydration in elderly patients who cannot drink adequately
  • Chronic disease patients needing periodic iron or albumin infusions
  • Post-chemotherapy supportive infusions on the oncologist's advice

How It Works

  • Share the prescription including drug, dose, dilution and frequency
  • Nurse visit scheduled, or full-shift nursing if infusions are frequent
  • First dose given with the patient monitored for reaction
  • Cannula site checked at every visit and changed on schedule
  • Consumables and sharps disposal handled as per protocol

Safety and Infection Control

Home IV therapy fails on two things: cannula infection and unmonitored reactions. Our nurses follow a documented cannula change schedule, inspect the site at every single visit for redness, swelling or pain, use single-use sterile sets, and stay with the patient through the initial part of the first infusion of any new drug. Emergency medication instructions are confirmed with the prescribing doctor before the first dose.

Local Coverage & Context

IV therapy at home is most often requested after discharge from Mumbai's larger hospitals, where a 7-14 day antibiotic course would otherwise mean a fortnight of daily travel from Borivali, Kharghar or Kalyan. We keep the same nurse across the course so the cannula history and the patient's veins are known - which meaningfully reduces repeated pricking.
